REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT
Replace the preformed packing and the backup ring.
1.
Retouch or repaint all painted surfaces as required using Paint .
2.
LUBRICATION
Pump assembly must be lubricated every 500 hours. Increase frequency when WP 0006 00, Operating Under
Unusual Conditions. All points of application must be cleaned with Cleaning Solvent prior to lubrication.
ASSEMBLY
Install the 45-degree elbow (Figure 1, Item 35) in the cylinder assembly (Figure 1, Item 12).
1.
Install the ram upper bearing (Figure 1, Item 11), backup ring (Figure 1, Item 10), preformed packing (Figure
2.
1, Item 9) and the ram lower bearing (Figure 1, Item 8) on the ram and nut assembly (Figure 1, Item 17) and
secure with the ram pin (Figure 1, Item 7) and the screw (Figure 1, Item 33). Lubricate the installed bearings
and preformed packing with hydraulic oil and slide the ram with attached parts into the cylinder.
Install the key assembly (Figure 1, Item 30) in the upper bearing (Figure 1, Item 31) and install the bearing in
3.
the cylinder, engaging the key with the key way in the ram.
Install the ram locknut (Figure 1, Item 29) on the ram and tighten the retaining screw in the locknut to secure.
4.
Place the indicator collar support (Figure 1, Item 28), indicator collar (Figure 1, Item 27) and the indicator
collar retainer (Figure 1, Item 25) on the ram and secure with the four screws (Figure 1, Item 24).
Insert the extension screw spring (Figure 1, Item 21) and the extension screw retaining plunger (Figure 1,
5.
Item 22) in the extension screw (Figure 1, Item 20) and install the extension screw in the ram. Install the ram
extension screw nut (Figure 1, Item 23) and the pad socket (Figure 1, Item 19) in the extension screw.
Secure the rise indicator tube assembly (Figure 1, Item 18) to the indicator collar (Figure 1, Item 27) with the
6.
wingnut (Figure 1, Item 26). Install the rise indicator rod (Figure 1, Item 32) in the tub.
Install the socket (Figure 1, Item 16), pin (Figure 1, Item 15), chain (Figure 1, Item 14) and the screw (Figure
7.
1, Item 13) on the cylinder.
TEST AND INSPECTION
Inspect the bearings, ram and nut assembly and cylinder assembly for nicks, burrs, minor abrasions and for
1.
damaged threads. Check the clearance between the ram and the upper bearing. If the clearance exceeds
0.015 inch, replace the bearing. Check the clearance between the ram bearings and the cylinder bore. If the
clearance exceeds 0.020 inch, replace the ram bearings. Remove nicks and burrs from all wearing surfaces
and threads.
Inspect all remaining parts for distortion and damaged threads. Replace if defective.
2.
INSTALLATION
Place the cylinder and ram assembly (WP 0002 00, Figure 1, Item 5) in the tripod assembly and secure with
1.
the 9 bolts and nuts.
Fill the cylinder with oil (WP 0009 00, Cylinder and Ram Assembly) and install the hose assembly.
2.
TESTING
Apply a ve-ton load to the assembled jack (WP 0014 00, Pump Assembly).
1.
There should be no leakage around the top of the cylinder.
2.
During the raising operation, check the ram locknut for free rotation on the ram.
