17. NIGHT FILTER ASSEMBLY
REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL
NOTE
The pass/fail criteria for night vision filter is as
follows: a filter with delamination greater than
0.20 as measured from the outer edge of the
filter inward should be replaced.
a. Move night filter assembly handle (1) to the
down position (2).
b. Cut shock pad (3) just above the top of
night filter assembly (4) with a sharp knife.
Cut at bondline all around the upper half of
shock pad (3).
c. Remove upper half of shock pad (3).
d. Remove spring pin (5) and set aside.
e. Remove night filter assembly (6).
f.
Remove old corrosion inhibitive sealing
and coating compound from spring pin (5)
(para 2-6).
