PREPARATION FOR STORAGE OR SHIPMENT
SHIPPING PROCEDURES
1.
Drain the oil from the pump assembly and the cylinder and ram assembly and rell with a suitable Preservative
Oil.
2.
Apply suitable preservatives to all exposed metal parts of the tripod hydraulic jack.
3.
Reduce the overall dimensions of the jack with a minimum of disassembly. Wrap the jack and all loose parts
in Barrier Material and seal with Pressure Sensitive Tape.
4.
Pack the jack in a suitable wooden crate.
STORAGE PROCEDURES
Inspection
Make a complete inspection of the jack (WP 0009 00, Service Upon Receipt).
Cleaning and Painting
Clean the jack thoroughly, removing all rust and other forms of corrosion. After cleaning, paint all surfaces where
the paint lm has been damaged using Paint .
Lubrication and Preservation
1.
Drain the oil from the pump assembly (WP 0014 00, Figure Pump Assembly) and the cylinder and ram
assembly (WP 0015 00, Figure Cylinder and Ram Assembly) and ll with a suitable Preservative Oil.
2.
Lubricate the jack as directed in WP 0013 00, WP 0014 00 and WP 0015 00.
Protection
Cover the jack with a tarpaulin or provide other suitable protection when storing outdoors.
LUBRICATION
1.
Replace covers on lubricant containers after use and store in a clean dry place. Keep all containers used for
handling oil clean and ready to use.
WARNING
DEGREASING SOLVENT, MIL-PRF-680
Degreasing solvent, MIL-PRF-680, is combustible and toxic to eyes, skin and respiratory tract.
Wear protective gloves and goggles/face shield. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact. Use
0012 00-1
