4-2. TADS TURRET ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (cont)
CAUTION
• Ensure that sling assembly straps do not
contact PNVS shroud to prevent damage to
PNVS shroud.
• Ensure that all protective window covers are
installed to prevent damage to windows.
c. Hang universal sling assembly (42) from
lifting device. Adjust the two outside straps
(43) so they are equal in length and the
center strap (44) to approximately 4 inches
shorter than the two outside straps.
d. Install universal sling assembly (42) as
shown.
e. Using lifting device, take a slight strain on
universal sling assembly (42) and take out
slack in the center strap (44).
CAUTION
• Careless handling of turret assembly during
replacement can damage the turret
assembly and the helicopter.
• Ensure that all cables are disconnected (1
above), prior to removal of turret assembly.
• Ensure that assistant steadies the turret
assembly and controls its travel at all times
during replacement.
5. Remove defective turret assembly (45).
a. Remove four bolts (46) and washers (47).
b. Grasp defective turret assembly (45) and
work it forward until two alinement pins are
clear of aircraft.
