PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES (PMCS) INTRODUCTION
This section lists and authorizes PMCS required for the Type B-1 Maintenance Platform. If your equipment fails to op-
erate, determine the specific symptom and troubleshoot with proper equipment. Report any deficiencies using proper
forms in accordance with instructions in DA PAM 738-751.
EXPLANATION OF COLUMNS
ITEM NO. Column
The number used to identify sequence of checks and services. This column shall be used as a source of item numbers
for the TM Number Column on DA Form 2404, Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet, when recording
results of PMCS.
INTERVAL Column
Indicates the time interval upon which the checks and services must be performed. Intervals are divided as follows:
B - Before Operation
D - During Operation
A - After Operation
W - Weekly
M - Monthly
S - Semiannually
C - Combat Operability Check
ITEM TO BE CHECKED OR SERVICED Column
Indicates items and components to be inspected or serviced.
PROCEDURES Column
Indicates the procedure which the check or service is to be performed. When replacement or repair of a component
is required, the procedure will direct personnel to the appropriate task.
EQUIPMENT NOT READY/AVAILABLE IF Column
Indicates the condition (e.g., malfunction, shortage) that would cause the Type B-1 Maintenance Platform to be less
than fully mission capable.
MANDATORY REPLACEMENT PARTS
There are no mandatory replacement parts required for these PMCS procedures.
LUBRICATION
The Maintenance Platform Type B-1 (Mechanical) does not use oil for lubrication. The jack screw gearbox and wheels
are repacked with grease and do not require lubrication as normal servicing. If the wheel is removed for maintenance,
repack the bearings with GAA (Grease, Automotive and Artillery). The steering arms to tie rod joints are lubricated with
GAA on an on-condition basis.
The jack screw is shipped with grease in the actuator. Lubrication inspection is required semi-annually. Lubricate us-
ing GAA at least annually. Each actuator is furnished with a grease fitting. The actuator should be filled with GAA un-
til the grease begins to seep from the load jack screw opening. Remove the boot at the actuator to check for proper
grease levels. GAA is also applied to all exposed portions of the jack screw to prevent corrosion.
