MAINTENANCE PLATFORM, TYPE B-1
The Maintenance Platform, Type B-1 (WP 0012 00, Figure 1) is a single, variable-height, portable stair structure
and platform assembly. It is a hydraulically-operated, adjustable ladder with a work platform that enables a ser-
viceman to work in safety at various heights.
LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR COMPONENTS
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
The hydraulic system which functions to supply uid under pressure to the cylinder assembly consists of a hand-
operated hydraulic pump, a by-pass valve, lines and ttings, hydraulic cylinder, and a uid reservoir.
UPPER STRUCTURE ASSEMBLY
The upper structure consists of the work platform, stair supports, steps, and handrails. Height variations of the
upper structure assembly are controlled by the extension or retraction of the hydraulic cylinder assembly.
BASE ASSEMBLY
The base assembly is welded steel tubing. It contains the hydraulic reservoir, the wheels and casters, immobi-
lizing jacks, and the hitch.
