4-40. TADS ELECTRONIC UNIT (TEU) ASSEMBLY REPAIR (cont)
4. CAPACITOR C1, C2, OR C3 REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL
a. Remove cover (1 above).
b. Remove power supply assembly A14 (3
above).
c. Cut safety wire (1) on upper right screw (2).
CAUTION
Do not try to bend flexible printed cable unless
heated. Do not overheat. Too much heat will
damage printed cable.
NOTE
A heat source of approximately 200°F is best
to make cable soft and bend easily. Holding
heat gun approximately 5 inches away from
the point you want to heat will usually apply
about 200°F.
d. Move front panel (3) aside by removing six
screws (2), washers (4), and two mounting
brackets (5).
e. Remove shield assembly (6) by removing
two screws (7), two locknuts (8), two
washers (9), and one loop clamp (10).
f. Unsolder capacitor leads.
NOTE
Capacitors are bonded to chassis with epoxy.
g. Grasp faulty capacitor (11), (12), or (13),
with needle nose pliers and remove.
