Inspection Procedures.
a. Gain access to the elevator assembly.
b. Identify and record the serial number on the data plate loc ated on the underneath skin near the trailing edge on
the inboard end of the elevator.
c. For elevators with a "CF" serial number prefix, proceed with the correction procedures in paragraph 9.a.
d. For elevators that do not have a "CF" serial number prefix, the inspection is complete.
Correction Procedures.
a. For elevator assemblies with a "CF" serial number prefix, annotate the aircraft records to require the elevator to
be removed from service upon reaching the 3,600 hour retirement life but not later than 15 October 2000.
NOTE
This TB does not prohibit installation of Chem Fab elevators from stock. However,
all Chem Fab elevators, regardless of the date of installation, will be removed from
service NLT 15 October 2000.
10. Supply/Parts and Disposition.
NOTE
All requisitions (previously) submitted as a result of UH-1-98-ASAM-02 shall be re-
evaluated by the submitting organization and cancelled if necessary.
a. Parts Required. Items cited in paragraph 6 may be required to replace defective items.
b. Requisitioning Instructions. N/A.
c. Bulk and Consumable Materials. N/A.
d. Disposition. Demilitarize/Mutilate IAWTM 1-1500-328-23 any part/component removed at 3,600 hour retirement
life or on 15 October 2000, whichever occurs first.
11. Special Tools, Jigs and Fixtures Required. N/A.
a. Category of Maintenance. AVUM. Aircraft downtime will be charged to AVUM maintenance.
b. Estimated Time Required.
(1) Total of 0.5 man-hours using 1 persons.
(2) Total of 0.5 hours downtime for one end item.
c. Estimated Cost Impact to the Field.
