FIELD MAINTENANCE
DESCRIPTION AND USE OF CONTROLS AND INDICATORS
INTRODUCTION
The following tables and illustrations provide description and use of the controls and indicators pertaining to the
dash panel, accelerator pedal, brake pedal, high/low beam switch, and seats.
Dash Panel
All driver instruments are conveniently located on the dash panel with the exception of the wiper/washer and
heater controls.
Crew Protection System (CPS) Dash
The CPS dash sits in front of the steering column and extends across the interior of the cab below the windshield.
The Auxiliary fuse box and controls for the windshield wiper/washer and heater are located on the CPS dash. The
wiper motor, wiper arm link, washer nozzles, washer tubing, and CPS wiring harness are under the CPS dash.
Windshield Wiper/Washer Control
The windshield wiper/washer control is a two position knob located on the left hand side of the CPS dash.
To operate the wipers, turn the knob clockwise one position for low speed and two positions for high speed.
Turn knob full counter clockwise to turn wipers off.
To operate the washer, press the knob until adequate luid to clean the windshield is obtained, then release the
knob.
Heater Controls
The heater control is a two knob panel located to the right of the windshield wiper/washer control on the CPS dash.
The left knob is for temperature control and the right, three position knob is for fan speed.
To set the temperature, rotate the left knob to desired setting. Full clockwise is high heat.
To set the fan speed, turn the knob clockwise one position for low speed, two positions for medium speed, and
three positions for high speed.
Auxiliary Fuse Box
The auxiliary fuse box is located to the right of the heater control on the CPS dash. It has the capacity to hold
eight fuses.
The irst ive receptacles, from left to right, are labeled A AUX and are unused at this time.
The sixth position is labeled, 20 WIPER/WASHER. It is a 20 amp fuse for the windshield wiper/washer system.
The seventh position is labeled, 10 HEAT. It is a 10 amp fuse for the heater system.
The eighth position is labeled, 15 DOME/FAN. It is a 15 amp fuse for both the CPS dome light and CPS fan.
CPS Fan
The fan is located in the center of the ceiling of the cab.
To operate, turn the control knob clockwise to turn on and adjust the speed. The speed begins at high and is
lowered by turning clockwise.
To set the desired wind direction loosen the thumb screw located at the back of the fan, adjust the fan accordingly,
then tighten thumb screw.
CPS Dome Light
The dome light is located forward of the CPS fan in the center of the ceiling of the cab.
To turn on light, press the switch located on driver side of dome light cover. Press again to turn off light.
Accelerator Pedal
The accelerator pedal is to the right of the brake pedal on the loor board.
