a. Remove wire harness clamps and spot ties
as necessary to access wiring to contact
being replaced.
b. Remove faulty contact from connector
using removal tool specified in table.
c. Cut coaxial cable from contact. Make sure
that end of cable is cut clean and square.
Do not deform cable while making cut.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION
When preparing coaxial cable, use care to
avoid damaging the inner conductor, dielectric
core, shield, or cable jacket. Faulty
connections could result.
d. Strip 1/4 inch of cable jacket from end of
cable to expose shield. Do not cut cable
shield.
e. Slide shield crimp sleeve over cable jacket.
f. Comb out exposed end of shield and fold
back over front edge of cable jacket.
g. Strip dielectric core 5/32 inch from end of
cable. End of dielectric core must be cut
cleanly at a right angle to inner conductor.
h. Install rear insulator over inner conductor
and butt against dielectric core.
i.
Slide inner socket contact over cable inner
conductor. Make sure that conductor is
visible through inspection hole and that
contact butts against rear insulator.
j.
Select crimping tool with positioner as
specified in table. Insert contact into
crimping tool until contact is fully seated in
positioner.
k. Squeeze crimping tool handles until ratchet
