e. TOUCHUP PAINTING
NOTE
On the boresight laser safety shield and hardware use only solar absorber
coating (TM 1-1270-476-20).
Refer to TM 55-1500-345-23 for touchup painting instructions.
f. DECALS AND STENCILING
If replacement is required, perform decal and stenciling replacement procedures (TM 1-1270-476-
20).
g. GENERAL INSPECTION
During assembly and installation of the TADS, a Technical Inspector will inspect all components
and inspect all components for cracks and broken wires must be repaired.
h. CIRCUIT CARD ASSEMBLIES
When replacing circuit card assemblies (CCAs), ensure that mating contacts are clean and free of
contaminants. Ensure proper seating when CCAs are installed in LRUS.

HANDLING
The shroud assemblies windows and housings are fragile and easily broken or damaged. Use
extreme care when handling the shroud assemblies to prevent dropping or jarring the assemblies. Put
the shroud assembly on clean, soft material for temporary storage.

ACCESS TO REPLACEMENT ITEMS
During intermediate maintenance. some items with a depot third position source, maintenance,
and recoverability (SMR) code must be removed to gain access to items coded for intermediate
maintenance removal/replacement. Items coded for depot removal/replacement can be removed and
reinstalled by intermediate maintenance when directed in the intermediate maintenance procedures.
Items coded for depot removal/replacement require special alinement or fault location procedures that
are not available at intermediate maintenance. If these items are found to be damaged, refer to TM 1-
1270-476-23P for disposition of the item and/or next highest assembly.
