Notes:
1
Do not mix MIL-PRF-7808 oil with either MIL-PRF-23699 or DOD-PRF-85734 oils, except during an
emergency. If oils are mixed, oil shall be drained and the system serviced with approved oil within 5 hours
of operation.
2
Use in ambient temperature of -34 C (-29 F) and above.
3
To avoid damage to packing/seals in the engine oil system, the use of MIL-PRF-23699 HTS (High Thermal
Stability) oil shall not be used in the engine oil tank.
4
Do not mix lubricating oils MIL-PRF-23699 and MIL-L-7808.
5
When outside air temperature is below -34 C (-29 F) use MIL-PRF-7808.
6
DOD-PRF-85734 is the preferred oil in transmissions and rotor heads, MIL-PRF-23699 and MIL-PRF-7808
may be used when DOD-PRF-85734 is not available. When outside air temperature is below -40C, use
MIL-PRF-7808.
7
The use of MIL-PRF-23699 HTS is NOT authorized for use in H-47 helicopters due to seal deterioration
capabilities of the High Thermal Stability (HTS) oil.
