CLEANING
WARNING
Degreasing Solvent, MIL-PRF-680 is combustible and toxic to eyes, skin, and respiratory tract.
Wear protective gloves and goggles/face shield. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact. Use
only in well-ventilated areas (or use approved respirator as determined by local safety/industrial
hygiene personnel). Keep away from open lames or other sources of ignition.
1.
Wash all parts in Degreasing Solvent, MIL-PRF-680, and dry thoroughly.
2.
Blow out passages with compressed air.
REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT
1.
Replace screen if it cannot be cleaned and restored to original shape.
2.
Replaced weak or damaged springs.
3.
Replace damaged ball bearings (Figure 2, Item 7 and 16) and clean damaged seats. Reset ball bearings
by tapping a new ball bearing into the seat with a brass drift to form a ring approximately 1/64th of an inch.
Discard the ball used for seating.
4.
Needle tips (Figure 2, Item 23) shall have a 10 inish and valve seats shall have a 32 inish. Replace rough or
pitted parts.
ASSEMBLY
1.
Place preformed packing (Figure 2, Item 24) on body (Figure 2, Item 25). Place needle (Figure 2, Item 23)
and spring (Figure 2, Item 22) in body. Install packing (Figure 2, Item 21) and rubber strip (Figure 2, Item
19) on screw (Figure 2, Item 20); thread screw into body. Turn approximately 4 turns after contacting spring.
Install pin (18) and thread assembly into base.
NOTE
Further setting of setscrew (Figure 2, Item 20) shall be made during test after reassembly to
obtain correct bypass pressure.
2.
Install preformed packing (Figure 2, Item 8) and backup ring (Figure 2, Item 9) in groove of pump cylinder.
Exercise caution to avoid damage to either.
3.
Press wiper (Figure 2, Item 10) into recess at top of pump cylinder.
4.
Drop ball bearing (Figure 2, Item 7) into cylinder and insert plunger (Figure 2, Item 6).
5.
Install cotter pin (Figure 2, Item 12) and pipe plug (Figure 2, Item 11).
6.
Install fulcrum (Figure 2, Item 1) with link (Figure 2, Item 2) and pins (Figure 2, Item 3, 4 and 5).
7.
Install ball bearing (Figure 2, Item 16) and spring (Figure 2, Item 15).
8.
Install pipe plug (Figure 2, Item 13).
9.
Install screen (Figure 2, Item 17) and preformed packing (Figure 2, Item 14) as pump is placed on jack base.
10. With the screen and two preformed packings in place, attach pump assembly (Figure 1, Item 8) to cylinder
with the two lathead screws (Figure 1, Item 9). Tighten securely and stake at slots.
11. Install handle (Figure 1, Item 1).
