Specialized repair activity or TASMG can
remove, replace, and use the item.
D-
Depot can remove, replace, and use the item.
Fourth Position. The maintenance code entered in the fourth position tells you whether or not the item is to be re-
paired and identif es the lowest maintenance level with the capability to do complete repair (perform all authorized re-
pair functions).
NOTE
Some limited repair may be done on the item at a lower level of maintenance, if authorized by
the Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC) and SMR codes.

Service/AMC is the lowest level that can do complete
repair of the item.
F-
Field/ASB is the lowest level that can do complete
repair of the item.
H-
Below depot sustainment is the lowest level that can
do complete repair of the item.
L-
Specialized repair activity or TASMG can remove,
replace, and use the item.
D-
Depot is the lowest level that can do complete repair
of the item.
Z-
Nonrepairable. No repair is authorized.
B-
No repair is authorized. No parts or special tools
are authorized for maintenance of "B" coded
item. However, the item may be reconditioned
by adjusting, lubricating, etc., at the user level.
Recoverability Code. Recoverability codes are assigned to items to indicate the disposition action on unservice-
able items. The recoverability code is shown in the f fth position of the SMR code as follows:

Nonrepairable item. When unserviceable, condemn
and dispose of the item at the level of maintenance
shown in the third position of the SMR code.
Reparable item. When uneconomically repairable,
